The First Congregational Church celebrates its 220th Anniversary with a special Sunday Service followed by an expanded pot luck lunch in the Parish House.  Join us as we celebrate this special occasion.

Take a look at what the members of the First Congrgational Church of Milford support

  1. Our Church’s Wider Mission (OCWM) funds the mission of the United Church of Christ.  We provide basic financial support to the OCWM, which helps to expand the different missions in the state including outdoor ministries, ecumenical connections, campus ministries, etc. and the national church.  For more info click here.
  2. Milford SHARE is the largest local organization that we contribute to weekly.  We donate money and food, and hold special Sunday offerings for socks and clothing, Thanksgiving baskets & gifts for the adopted families at Christmas.  SHARE helps local families when they need help the most, especially around the holidays.  More information is available on their web site - Milford Share.
  3. The Annual Souhegan Valley Interfaith CROP WALK raises money for the hungry people of this region and of the world. Locally the walk supports Milfod SHARE and the Wilton Open Cupboard.

  4. The Manchester Salvation Army’s Kids’ Café donations go toward feeding local children.  They also help provide clothing to needy children.  They try to remain current with new programs as they arise.  Visit the Kids's Cafe for more information.
  5. Nashua Soup Kitchen & Shelter helps families in the Nashua area by providing food and shelter.  They help people who are out of work find new jobs or assist those who want to further their education.  Check them out here.
  6. Great American Bake Sale to alleviate child hunger in NH and the country.  More than 1 million people have baked, bought or sold goods to end childhood hunger in their communities by participating in Share Our Strength’s Great American Bake Sale. To date, funds raised from bake sales have helped establish 926 new sites where children can get meals. Learn more about how your bake sale fights childhood hunger.
  7. Rape & Assault Support Services offers crisis intervention, support, emergency housing and information.  They also provide preventative educational programs to local schools.
  8. The NH Bible Society keeps the cost low on the distribution of scripture to prison ministries, church Bible Studies, and to hospital and nursing home chaplains.  Visit their site here.
  9. The NH Council of Churches helps communities grow in faith and participate in ecumenical efforts.  They also offer hospitality towards interfaith dialogue.  Find out how you can help by visiting their site here.
  10. Bangor Theological Seminary equips men and women for Christian ministries.  Learn about them at Bangor Theological Seminary.
  11. Souhegan Home & Hospice Care aids surrounding nursing homes with everyday expenses.  Find out more - Souhegan Home & Hospice Care.
  12. The Granite State Organizing Project (GSOP) – Our church is one of the sponsoring agencies of GSOP, a grassroot community service organization.  We are proud to say that GSOP is the largest grassroots community organization in New Hampshire. It is comprised of 32 religious, community, and labor organizations representing 20,000 New Hampshire families. GSOP works on issues such as affordable housing, jobs, health care, and education to improve the lives of all people.  More information is available here.
  13. Neighbors in Need Special Offering (NIN) - is a special mission offering of the UCC that supports ministries of justice and compassion thoughout the United States.  One-third of NIN funds support the Council for American Indian Ministry(CAIM). Two-thirds of the offering is used by the UCC's Justice and Witness Ministries(JWM) to support a variety of justice initiatives, advocacy efforts, and direct service projects.  For more information visit the UCC site - Neighbors in Need.
  14. One Great Hour of Sharing Special Offering (OGHS) - is the relief, refugee and development fund of the United Church of Christ. It is one of the Special Mission Offerings received by the United Church of Christ and is a part of Our Churches Wider Mission (OCWM). The OGHS offering is most often received the third Sunday of Lent, but may be taken at different times.  For more visit the UCC site - One Great Hour of Sharing.
  15. Strengthen the Church Special Offering to help establish new or assist existing churches (Addison Fund Local)
  16. Veterans of the Cross supports the retired United Church of Christ ministers (Addison Fund Local)
  17. Parish House Fuel Fund
  18. Mittens for the Needy is a collection of cold weather articles gathered annually to help local families.
  19. Children’s Charity in Bangladesh to help fund the programs for young people (Addison Fund Abroad).
  20. Amaryllis plants presented to our shut-ins at Thanksgiving to anticipate the blooms at Christmas.
  21. Congregational Church of Sathyapur, Church of South India – To enable and enhance the congregation’s ministry in that region. (Addison Fund Abroad)

  23. Youth Summer Camp Scholarships enabled our church’s youth to attend summer camp at Horton Center.
